Illegal Building on Jalan Kartini Demolished

Central Jakarta Administration city government keeps on managing to prevent the flood effect that usually come when the wet season comes. One of the efforts is curbing the illegal building above water channel. The illegal building raid was done at Kartini urban Village, Sawah Besar.

Based on beritajakarta.com observation, Monday (10/13), an heavy equipment completed with Satpol PP from Sawah Besar Sub-district started to demolish eight illegal buildings. The raid went smooth because socialization had been done before.

There are 30 illegal buildings around the location built above water channel. Mostly are used as small business such as grocery, food stalls, and workshop.

Head of Sawah Besar Sub-district, Henri Perez Sitorus, explained the raid was done on Jalan Kartini 8, Jalan Kartini 10C and Jalan Kartini 8. Heavy equipment must be involved  due to the buildings were built permanently.

"Ideally, above water channel must be clear from building. We have had socialize this to the citizens," Henri said.

After the demolishment, Sub-dept. of Water Management for Public Works started to dredge the channel.

Similar raid will be applied on Jalan Karanganyar, Jalan Dwiwarna, and Jalan Gunung Sahari 7.

"The raid run smoothly because we applied persuasive socialization, and it's effective," Henri added.
